NSE Special Live Trading Session

In line with regulatory guidelines from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the National Stock Exchange (NSE) has scheduled a special live trading session on Saturday, March 2, 2024. This initiative involves an intraday switch to a disaster recovery (DR) site, reinforcing the exchange’s capabilities in the face of unforeseen incidents that may impact its operations.

  • Block Deal Window: 8:45 am to 9 am
  • Pre-Open Session: 9 am to 9:08 am
  • Normal Trading Session: 9:15 am to 10 am
  • Call Auction Illiquid Session: 9:30 am to 9:45 am
  • Special Trading Session: 11:15 am onwards
  • Normal Trading: 11:23 am to 12:30 pm
  • Closing Session: 12:40 pm to 12:50 pm

Session Details
The special session will unfold in two phases. The first phase, a 45-minute session, will commence at 9:15 am, while the second phase will begin at 11:30 am, concluding at 12:30 pm.

Market Measures
To maintain market stability during the live trading session, the NSE has implemented certain measures. All futures contracts can fluctuate within a 5% operating range, and securities in the Future and Options (F&O) segment will have upper and lower circuit limits of 5%. Those with a 2% limit will retain their existing circuit limit during this session. These measures are designed to prevent excessive volatility and uphold market stability.

Members are urged to take note of these adjustments as part of the business continuity plan mandated by SEBI for market infrastructure intermediaries (MIIs). The NSE’s commitment to operational resilience and preparedness underscores its dedication to ensuring a robust and secure trading environment.
